Psalm 18 Pt.1 – God The Sovereign Saviour!
In this Psalm of love and praise to the Lord, David thanks the LORD for delivering and rescuing him from all his enemies and especially from Saul. But David uses either hyperbole or imaginative language to describe how the LORD acts towards him. Could David have been prophesying the events of the death and burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ? William McDonald certainly thinks so in his commentary! Or is David simply using his imagination to describe how God acts in a spiritual sense? Whatever the case, we can look to the LORD as our Sovereign Saviour, who doesn’t come tippy-toeing in to rescue us, but uses all His power, such as the power He demonstrated when He raised Jesus from the dead.
