Matthew 24 Pt.6 – The Sign of The Son of Man!

In Matthew 24:29-31 Jesus spoke of things that would happen IMMEDIATELY AFTER the tribulation of THOSE DAYS. And THOSE DAYS that Jesus spoke of were undoubtedly those that would come upon Israel in judgement (See Lk.19:41-44; 21:20-24). The signs that Jesus spoke of in Matt.24:29 probably should not be taken literally, even as they are not taken literally when used elsewhere in the Old Testament, such as in Isa.13:10; 34:4; Ezek.32:7; Joel 2:10 & Amos 8:9. Then in V.30 Jesus spoke of ‘The Sign of The Son of Man’, but doesn’t say what it is. But we know that there were certain SIGNS that accompanied His First Coming. However, in Mk.13:26 and Lk.21:27 there is no mention of ANY SIGN but only of The Coming of The Son of Man on the clouds with great power and glory – an image that corresponds with Daniel 7:13-14, and which Jesus no doubt was referring to in His trial, when He answered the High Priest (Matt.26:64). So there are so many views on these verses, and today we just looked at a possible alternative that perhaps some of us have never considered.
