Matthew 23 Pt.4 – Jerusalem, Jerusalem!

As we bring Matthew 23 to a close, we must remember that there were no chapter divisions in the Bible originally. So naturally, Matthew 23 runs right on into Matthew 24. The thing is that many people focus on Matthew 24 as they see it as awaiting a future fulfilment. Well, in one sense it was to be future, but not in the sense of a far distant future. As we see from Matt.23:36, ‘…all these things will come upon THIS GENERATION!’ And the question that needs to be asked is, “Which GENERATION did Jesus have in mind, and to whom was He speaking?” No doubt a major chunk of the prophetic word given in Matt.24 was given concerning that generation which Jesus was speaking to, and no doubt there is more to be fulfilled at a later date. But we will soon begin to look at Matthew 24 in the coming weeks or starting next month!
